The way in which Reiki and the placebo effect are different is that you don't have to believe in it to either give it or receive it. It will work anyway and also even if you don't know you're receiving it. And it doesn't have to be given to a living thing. I've fixed inanimate objects like my washing machine with it. It's supposed to be really good for fixing computers.

Everything around us is made up of energy, and all I do is visualize a specific type of energy to work with me and that is healing energy. I go through a process of clearing my mind so that I can use utilize my cleared space to channel healing energy down through my hands, right into the recipient. It’s energy. Simple. We have the ability to manipulate the quirk in an atom by pure thought. This has been proven by Quantum Physics. So if we can change this small small particle in an atom by thought, imagine the countless more possiblilites we create. As I do just that, I get sensations in my hands, like heat and tingling, and it is often felt by the recipient. This person might start to feel numb or warm in the area that I focus on. I never touch them. My palms are about 1 1/2 inches away from them. I can also work on people far away from me just visualizing it. I have helped my sister pass tests when she was in college. She’d be stressed, in head pain and so I’d send her healing energy. I did this for her every time she had a final. The most common feedback I get is the feeling of relaxation and numbness of pain. With cancer patients suffereing from pain and have difficulty sleeping, they had fallen asleep while I had worked on them.

It’s really easy for people to say it’s hokus pokus, or whatever they want to say. I’ve got an open mind to possibilities. Anyone can do this with training. Some are more sensitive and natural to it than others, but everyone can do it if they really wanted to. Nobody has ever told me I didn’t make a difference…even the catholic family who brought their priest to watch me do my work had totally accepted me and thanked me for doing what I do. It was because he wittnessed me making a dying member of his church pain free.

edit : @ sweeta , yeah my cousin and his family are also supposedly very catholic and like all catholics, they believe anything, (the virgin mary, ghosts, elves, astrology, etc)a lot of times they have done this eledge healing on me, and i only do it our of pure presure and no to hurt peoples feelings , but if they tell me i have to belive in some healing thing , whatever it is, or else it wont work, i assume its just a placebo effect, some people belive they should be alright and convince themselves they are, I don't know if that is the mechanic of this whole thing but it seems it is.
I am an skeptic , i am sorry i just need too much proof to belive!
