What are the reiki healing techniques ?
I have heard about reiki healing techniques are very effective.I want to know what they are ?
It’s a study of self healing, meditation, and the laying on of hands. Just google it, there is alot of information online regarding reiki, yoga, chakra meditation, etc.

I think if you go to one session you will find out how effective they are. The techniques are so ridiculous that it's obvious they could have no effect on anything at all. There are reasons why the practice is so small and not taken seriously by most professional associations.
My wife was referred to one of these 'practioners' by her doctor and I went along with her (with an open mind) to see what it was all about. Afterwards we were both shocked at the absurdity of it and knew if could have no value whatsoever.

Sorry, but you heard wrong.
Reiki is a Japanese version of "energy" healing. It postulates that both living creatures, and in fact the universe consists of a life energy (ki) and that imbalances in this energy cause health problems. They claim to be able to detect and correct these imbalances.
There is not a shred of evidence that such a form of energy exists. The properties it is supposed to have violates the laws of physics. Reiki practitioners (I refuse to use their term, "masters") have not subjected their "skills" to scientific investigation, and all their evidence is of the anecdotal variety, which is useless. However, Therapeutic Touch is a very similar idea and when they have been subjected to scientific investigation, they have failed.
Reiki practitioners have made some outrageous (and of course completely unproven ) claims, such as being able to "heal at a distance" or over telephone or internet lines, and some have even claimed to be able to raise the dead. Does this sound a little suspicious to you?

I have researched Reiki and Therapeutic Touch extensively.
They are both nonsense.
Anecdote does not equal evidence

So SkepDoc, anecdotal evidence has no value at all? Whatever. Reiki is wonderful, and when used alongside regular meditation and healthy living it promotes good physical and spiritual health.
