Where can I go or look up to learn about Reiki healing?

It’s and interest of mine, as well as many other forms of alternative medicine. Thank you for your time.

I guess if you just want to learn about Reiki and Healing Arts in general, you can look it up online, read a book, or subscribe to a magazine. Tappan’s Handbook of Healing Massage Techniques by Frances M. Tappan & Patricia T. Benjamin is a fantastic resource about various bodywork styles, there are countless books on Reiki in any bookstore in the northeastern USA. There is also the Reiki News Magazine and associated website for good general information.
If you want to learn Reiki, the only real choice is to find a Reiki Master/Teacher. If you want to practice bodywork, I generally recommend that people get a valid license to practice in their state/country (here in the USA, it can be Massage Therapy, or in some states Polarity, Rolfing, or Reflexology).

There are a lot of reiki style out there, some of them are combination of reiki and other esoteric healing. Its too much confusing, many style are made only for your money. If you really want to study reiki, i recommend you this site http://www.threshold.ca. Learn the traditional reiki, the japanese one, and avoid being trap in unproven and unchecked reiki style.

you can learn reiki form any reiki master/teacher. i would advice not to get an attunment on internet if you really want to learn the principles and finer points of reiki. advantage of learning form a master/teacher it that when you come across any blockages, you will have someone with experience to guide you through it. check the reiki circles in your area and see which reiki master/teacher you feel a bond with. it is important to find a teacher who you can bond with on a deeper level because learning to work with energy is like an onion, with every layer you peel, you will find another layer and another. only an experienced master/teacher will be able to help you peel the layer after layer of your own issues,so that you will be able to separate your issues from that of a person that you will be working with. it is very important to know that difference and be able to set boundaries

There are plenty of books and websites if you just have casual curiosity. if you are seriously interested, I would recommend finding a Reiki Master in your area. http://www.byregion.net is a good source to fine healers in your area.

I would recommend receiving a session to see if you think it is for you. If it is something you would like to learn, I recommend taking your first form of Reiki from a Reiki Master in person, a professional who actually charges for their services. (not one who charges thousands of dollars but one who charges is bound to have a certain level of professionalism) Take the trainings through Master level from live Reiki Master Teachers. Once you have completed your fundamentals in one form, if you like, then add additional forms through internet or free//discount services.

I am a Master teacher and have many students come to me to repeat their level 1 and level 2 trainings because they do not feel like they learned what they needed.

Good luck. reiki is a beautiful thing.

Great Choice! Reiki is worthy of your time and attention and I thank you for learning Reiki because the more Reiki people around, the more wonderful things like World Peace and personal happiness expand. Reiki blends perfectly with any other modalities, so you can use Reiki with other forms of energy work and alternative therapies. Because you are drawn to it, rest assured you will find the perfect teacher. As a long time Reiki Master and new Karuna Reiki Master who teaches and practices daily, my best suggestion for you is to look into two places: West US: Infinite Light Peace Place in Sedona AZ at peaceplacesedona.com In the East: Reiki.org These two websites are the wonderful people who have organized International Center for Reiki Training and they hold events and classes all over the US and the world. On their websites is a great deal of reliable and easy to understand information freely available about Reiki. It could easily fill many books and is to the point, open, honest, compassionate, down to earth, usable Reiki guidance. Their licensed teachers are listed at reiki.org listing local ReikiMasters all over the US, licensed by them. However, even if you do not choose to look into that - please know - you cannot get it wrong - you will find your way and it is a wise and wonderful gift to you and all! I wish you well.

Lots of links to authoratative Reiki websites at the Holistic Community Reiki page (see link below). These are the best sites I could find from my searches over the past 12 months.

(The site is currently being redeveloped and so you may ned to copy and paste the links but hopefully should all be working by the time you get there).
