Throughout all of history, humans have always felt that they were on the “cutting edge” of science– such as when they were doing blood letting. We are still “cavemen” in terms of understanding the true nature of things.

Actually, it is not only in hinduism. Just hindus call it chakras. but there are thousands of year old philosophies that have the same understanding, just that they dont call it chakras.
Even in Islam and Taoism it talks about the 7 heavens on earth.

BigNastyMan - Sorry but you are wrong in what you said. In fact, Indians were the ones who wanted to know about life and thus meditated and founded Spirituality. Sanskrit, the language used, plays a high role such as mantras. Keep in mind that “chakra” is sanskrit. Kundalini is also sanskrit and no it did not come from the moors.

It is true that …
It is true that chakras are not part of the original Reiki. It is also true that many people who practice Reiki develop, grow,and expand their awareness. As we heal our inner obstructions, new things become possible, like working with chakras, because less and less stands in the way of progress. There would be no purpose to healing if it was not to overcome imbalances at all levels of our being. I feel we should embrace the blessings of Reiki and not put a limit on ourselves.

The Chakras are …
The Chakras are Indian / Vedic. Reiki is Japanese. The chakras system is not a part of Japanese Reiki. The chakras were adopted by new age western in the 1980’s when a westerner invented Tibeten reiki. Traditional Japanese Reiki works with a very different school of thought other than the chakras.
